There are places in Gran Canaria that stand out for their beauty and natural attraction. Teror is just one of those places to visit because of its marvellous surroundings. One of the most beautiful excursions you can do in this town is the Alamo Path in Teror.
The town is known as much for the beautiful Basilica of the Virgen del Pino as for the culinary delicacies that can be enjoyed there. However, discovering the Alamo ravine and the Teror circular route is an opportunity to see the area through different eyes.
The Teror circular route is one of the easiest and most comfortable of the island, ideal to go on a family trip. This trail is only 5.5 kilometres long, so it is easy to include children in this beautiful activity.
One particularity of this circular route in Teror is that, although it is of a low level of difficulty, it can be challenging on a rainy day. For this reason, it is advisable to wear non-slip footwear and carry a trekking stick.
The most characteristic feature of this route is that it has two very vertical staircases that allow you to overcome two differences in level. But, once you have overcome them, the walk is not a major problem.
The route starts in the centre of the village of Teror. Once there, we must continue to the neighbourhood of “El Álamo” where we will pass the bridges “El Muñigal” and “La Molineta”. The first staircase that the walker encounters is about 4 metres high, so if you are travelling with children, you should climb it with caution.
Although the Alamo Path in Teror is a very flat route, you must take care to not slip on a rainy day. Therefore, we reiterate that it is necessary to have good equipment to do the walk safely and much more comfortably, especially for those who are going to do it for the first time.
For those who are looking for a different kind of contact with nature, they can enjoy themselves on the beach. It is just the perfect setting. All along the circular route of Teror, the hiker will be able to enjoy an incredible view of the native flora of the area.
It is also worth mentioning that walkers will have the opportunity to meet farmers and livestock breeders from the municipality. The route of the Alamo Path in Teror includes crops and livestock, which visitors will come across.
For some people, this is a route that allows the perfect union between tradition and nature. The hiker will have the opportunity to walk along paths full of lush vegetation, some narrower and winding, but all with an extraordinary charm.
The route takes walkers to the “Arbejales” neighbourhood. From here, the name of the circular route of Teror can be understood, since it is time to head back to the “El Álamo” neighbourhood and, from there, to the town square of Teror itself.

As it has already mentioned, the route is very simple. For those doing it for the first time, the time investment will be approximately 4 hours. An excellent tip is to visit the ravine in the morning, when the temperature is not so high, and it is more comfortable to do the hike.
Another recommendation is to walk the route of the Alamo Path in Teror on a Sunday. The reason for this is that you can take advantage of the day to visit the town’s famous street market.
If you follow this advice, take the opportunity to try the local delicacies, especially the Teror chorizo sandwiches and sweets.
There’s nothing better to get your strength back after doing the circular route of Teror than to let yourself be tempted by the delicacies you’ll be able to taste in the village. Don’t forget to buy souvenirs to take home and enjoy on your return.
The Alamo Path in Teror is an incredible hike to enjoy on your visit to Gran Canaria. Getting to know these natural spaces and the most beautiful villages of Gran Canaria are options worthwhile on your trip to the island.
