If there is one place that is really worth visiting, it is undoubtedly Arguineguín, in Gran Canaria. Like many other areas of Gran Canaria, its charm as a coastal village makes it perfect for discovering the beauty of getting up before sunrise and exploring everything its surroundings have to offer.
Discover in this Lopesan Blog article the port and village of Arguineguín in Gran Canaria and let yourself fall in love with its unique and very particular coastal style.
In the south of the island of Gran Canaria we find this wonderful place, nestled on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. If anything makes Arguineguín attractive, it is the essence of a coastal village that has developed to become a fundamental point for tourism in the area.
Although the island has a lot to offer in all its spaces, in Arguineguín we find, without having to go far from the village, a series of very different activities. You can’t miss it!
At dawn, one of the moments not to be missed is the departure of the fishing boats and boats from the port itself. There is nothing better than having a coffee and watching how these experienced sailors leave the coast accompanied by their nets and their enthusiasm to enjoy an excellent day of fishing.
When it comes to breakfast, there are multiple terraces in the old town itself where you can enjoy the delicacies that each of these cafes, traditional and even vegetarian, offer to start the morning with lots of energy.
When the time comes to set out on the adventure, we ask ourselves: What to visit first? Read this small guide and don’t miss anything:
If what you feel like is to lie down and “catch some colour” on one of the beaches in the area, Arguineguín has several that are worthwhile.
As a recommendation, Playa de las Marañuelas is one of the best options because you don’t have to go far from the port to enjoy it. With fine dark sand, this beach is perfect to spend the day with the family.
It is comfortable for walking, since it is 400 metres long with an unbeatable view of the ocean; but for beach games it is also more than perfect because the winds are quite mild. If you feel like snorkelling, towards the end zone, this beach is ideal for a good dive.
Another beach that we recommend you to visit is El Pajar, a bit far from the port, but with that local colour that you can like so much. There, in addition to enjoying a clearer sand, you can stay for lunch, as its restaurants are fantastic and offer fresh and seasonal seafood.
If there is something Arguineguín in Gran Canaria has to offer, it is spaces to explore on foot. If you want to enjoy nature and excellent views of the coast, the walks along its many trails will delight you.
We recommend you to visit the Natural Reserve of Ojeda, Inagua and Pajonales. It is one of the best preserved pine forest areas in the region, perfect for admiring the imposing nature and spotting birds of all kinds, such as the Cory’s gull or blue finch.
You can not miss a tour of the charming village of Arguineguín, whose architecture retains the essence of a fishing village, with houses and colours that identify it as such.
In the nearby village of Mogán we find some buildings such as the Church of San Antonio de Padua or the Molino Quemado. Historical buildings that are worth visiting.
If anything is a must is to visit the local market that every Tuesday offers the freshest products of the area. If you want to feel like one of the locals and enjoy these delicacies first hand, this is a must on your day in Arguineguín in Gran Canaria.
The promenade is another tour you should not miss and much more when you can enjoy those boats that you saw leaving early in the morning, returning with their cargo of the day’s catch.
Undoubtedly, Arguineguín is a destination to create memories and let yourself be touched by the rays of the sun that bathe this piece of paradise.
