If you are looking for a space to disconnect on your next vacation, get to know the most spectacular coves of Fuerteventura and spend a different day in some charming natural places. They are an ideal place to relax.
In this article we present a list of the best coves in Fuerteventura where you can fully enjoy the silence and beauty so characteristic of the Canary Island.
There are people who confuse “cove” with “beach” and think they are the same, but they are not. Knowing them and knowing how to differentiate them is easier than you think.
The coves are smaller natural bays, in which you can enjoy the calm of their waters and the tranquility of an environment away from urban areas. That’s one of the differences between coves and beaches: the tranquility and how far away they are from the urban centers.
We encourage you to discover the following eight coves of Fuerteventura that stand out for their remarkable charm and you cannot fail to include them in your travel itinerary. Do you want to discover them all? Go ahead!
Located in the north of the popular town of Morro Jable, Esquinzo Butihondo is a semi-urban cove with three kilometers of golden sand and calm waters, which are subdivided into three different sections, where you have access to different very quiet areas to relax and disconnect .
The Esquinzo de Butihondo cove is a dreamy bay that you cannot miss.
Another tourist area that houses some of the most beautiful beaches and coves in Fuerteventura is the charming town of Corralejo, located in the northeast of the island.
This set of coves and beaches in Corralejo, are a clear example of the very particular variety of environments that you can find in Fuerteventura.
You will be able to enjoy a varied offer to carry out different activities, as well as disconnect from the routine in one of its spectacular coves with turquoise waters and golden sand.
Don’t be misled by its name, Mal Nombre beach is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful hidden coves in Fuerteventura, located in the well-known area of Sotavento. Its crystal clear waters, white sand and cliffs provide a unique appearance to this wild bay.
You can access this unique rocky-looking cove without problems through the old Morro Jable and Costa Calma road. If you go by car, you will have no problem finding parking.
Ajuy is another of the coves of Fuerteventura where you can spend a quiet day surrounded by the volcanic magic so characteristic of the Canary Islands. This cove has fine volcanic sand of almost black color and waves that are somewhat more agitated than the water you can find in the other coves and paradisiacal beaches of the island.
Ajuy beach is located on the west coast of Fuerteventura, more specifically within the impressive Betancuria Natural Park. In it, you can visit the mysterious Ajuy Caves, which symbolize an important part of the island’s geological past.
Next to El Cotillo municipality there is a formation of small coves with crystal clear waters and white sands called Los Charcos, which has become one of the favorite destinations of the locals, who very often come from other islands of the archipelago to enjoy its tranquility and beauty.
If you are looking for a cozy place to have a good time with family or friends, then the coves of Los Charcos, with their natural pools of volcanic origin, will not disappoint you. In addition, in the surroundings you will find places to visit such as the Faro del Tostón.
Of all the coves of Fuerteventura, the small natural enclave of Cofete stands out for being one of the most beautiful places where you can disconnect and spend a different day.
However, unlike Los Charcos and other coves, accessing this enclave is not so easy, since you must first cross the most mountainous part of the Jandía Peninsula. How to get to this place?
You need to cross part of the PR-FV 55 Gran Valle – Cofete trail of 6.80 km that is located on the Punta de Jandía road. Once you get to the beach, you have to walk a bit until you reach the small Islet of Cofete.
La Concha is part of the beautiful Islet of Los Lobos, one of the most charming natural environments that should not be missing on your list.
To access La Concha you need to take a path located to the left of the main pier, just a 10-minute walk away. This magical cove has natural turquoise pools, where you can spend unforgettable moments.
If you are a lover of diving or snorkeling and want to explore the marine fauna, La Concha has one of the most extensive and varied marine banks in Fuerteventura that will leave you speechless.
Following the travel route through the north of the island, you will discover one of the quietest coves in Fuerteventura, Los Lagos. This small cove is located near Caleta del Marrajo, a bay that belongs to the tourist town of El Cotillo.
If you want to enjoy a sunny day, the tranquility of the water and the white sand, we recommend that you make a note of this beautiful cove on your travel itinerary.
We hope that with this list you will be encouraged to visit one of these wonderful coves of Fuerteventura and break with the routine during your next vacation visiting new places that you will never forget.
