In the southeast of the island, you will find Las Playitas de Fuerteventura, an attractive fishing village that you should not miss because of all the charm it hides.
If you want to know all the things you can do if you visit Las Playitas in Fuerteventura, here you can find the necessary information.
The natural charm of Las Playitas in Fuerteventura lies in its maritime origin, which is reflected in its white houses with blue stripes, so characteristic of this coast.
The influence of fishing is so wide that every year they celebrate the patron saint festivities on June 29 in honor of San Pedro, El Pescador. In addition, his sculpture adorns the interior of the church of Las Playitas in Fuerteventura.
You can enjoy two very different faces of the municipality. One is made up of the picturesque town of Pescadores, and the other part is considered the most important tourist attraction in the area: Las Playitas beach.
The town of Las Playitas de Fuerteventura is located on a hill in the southeast of the island, within the Tuineje municipality, just 6 kilometers by car from Gran Tarajal.
To get to this charming place by private vehicle, you can do so by taking the FV-4 road towards Gran Tarajal, following the path until you reach the detour to take the FV-512 route, which will take you directly to Las Playitas.
In case you want to travel by guagua (bus), the regular lines leave from Morro Jable and Puerto del Rosario.
This unique destination is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. In Las Playitas de Fuerteventura you can find an infinity of activities to do as a couple, with friends or as a family.
We have selected some of the most emblematic places within this town of the municipality of Tuineje Fuerteventura.
A coastline with two types of sand borders this part of Las Playitas: one of coarse texture and the other of volcanic origin.
As its name indicates, the Fishermen nucleus mainly focuses its economy on fishing with cast nets. In that area there are 4 recognized communities: El Papayal, La Penca, Los Castros and Puertas Viejas.
As we mentioned earlier, Las Playitas beach is the most popular tourist attraction in town. Its extension has a length of 700 meters with an approximate width of 30 meters, where you can relax on its sand, sunbathe or bathe and enjoy the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
The most interesting feature of this beach is, as we explained previously, the variety of sands that coexist. One thicker and another volcanic in nature. This gives the beach a unique and special personality that you can only experience when you bury your feet in it.
Another of its most representative elements are its waters, which are calm and shallow. Which is why endless water sports such as diving and windsurfing are carried out there.
Contemplating the Cuchillo de Vigán Natural Monument is something that we always recommend if you plan to visit Las Playitas de Fuerteventura.
This area has 6,090 hectares, where you can find, living together, flora and fauna and fossil remains in the place in a perfect coexistence, such as the great conch and the trumpeter bullfinch bird. For this reason, the Cuchillo de Vigán has become a protected area in the Canary Islands, in order to preserve its biodiversity.
Fuerteventura hides in its territory many unique places to discover, being the Faro de la Entallada (Entallada Lighthouse) one of the essentials on your list of places you must visit.
To get to this unique attraction you must pass through the Cuchillos de Vigán Natural Monument. It will only take approximately five to ten minutes if you go by car.
The architect Carlos Alcón designed the Entallada Lighthouse, near Las Playitas, in the 1950s. In it, three parts converge that were previously homes of the lamplighters.
The views from the Faro de la Entallada are unmatched, and you will enjoy the beautiful monument on one side and the island’s extensive sea on the other.
There are many recommended restaurants for you to visit in the area. As a good fishing village in Las Playitas in Fuerteventura, you can enjoy the flavors of the fresh ocean.
The gastronomic offer on the island will not disappoint you, since most of the locals will make you taste the native flavor of the island, as is the case of the Casa Víctor in Las Playitas, the restaurant El Poril and the Cofradía, just to mention some.
Also, we encourage you to try other typical dishes of the island. We recommend you to enjoy a tasty Majorero cheese and delicious wrinkled potatoes with mojo.
If you need accommodation during your trip to Fuerteventura, in the Lopesan Group we have hotels in the south of the island that will make your visit an unforgettable memory.
