There are many places that we would like to recommend so that you can plan your holiday in Fuerteventura. This magical island has a lot to offer and that’s why in each article we invite you to visit different places. This time we bring you the sand, water and sun of the best beaches in Morro Jable.
These magnificent beaches are located in the south of the island and surround one of the most beautiful villages in the area: Morro Jable. This beautiful place is known for its geographical relief and its white houses close to the beach.
The climate in Morro Jable, like the rest of the Canary Islands, is very warm. This means that any time of year is ideal for enjoying its beaches and a holiday in the sun. Whether it’s water sports, shopping on the town’s main avenue or relaxing in the spectacular sunsets that Morro Jable has to offer, any excuse is a good one to spend a few days here!
And yes, we can confirm it, the main attraction of Morro Jable is its beaches. That’s why we’ve chosen five of them for you to visit!
Jandía beach has a unique charm that attracts many visitors for different reasons. Its deserted landscape and spectacular sea views are its main attractions. With a length of 20 kilometres, it offers a peaceful refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city, ideal for those who want to get away from it all and get in touch with nature. Here you can take long walks or enjoy water sports. The beach has lifeguard stations every few metres.
On the same beach is the Faro del Matorral lighthouse, located in a vast salt marsh that has been declared a Natural Park. This majestic lighthouse, built at the end of the 20th century, is 62 metres high and offers a unique spectacle at sunset. Don’t miss it!
Morro Jable is a 4km long paradise for windsurfers and water sports enthusiasts. With crystal clear waters and a beautiful golden sandy beach, it is the perfect place to relax in the sun. As well as sunbed and umbrella hire, you’ll find a variety of local eateries.
Located next to the coastal town of Morro Jable, this beach is a family destination par excellence, although it also attracts international tourists looking for relaxation on the island. The peculiar geography of the coastline in this part of Fuerteventura protects it from the northern sea currents, keeping the waters calm for most of the year. A perfect place to enjoy days of sun and fun in an incomparable natural environment.
Matorral’s 12 kilometres of sandy beach are perfect for water sports and sunbathing. Its clean, turquoise waters are perfect for swimming and enjoying various water activities. The prevailing winds are also ideal for windsurfing, and there are several windsurfing schools and board hire. The beach has lifeguards and life-saving stations, and its waters tend to have moderate waves.
The beach is awarded the Blue Flag every year by the European Foundation for Environmental Education, in recognition of the quality of its services and its excellent environmental conditions. There are bars nearby where you can have a meal or a bite to eat, a fabulous way to get to know the local gastronomy. Known for its spectacular sunsets, this beach is also a protected natural area due to its vegetation, which is resistant to flooding at high tide. Its extension allows you to enjoy different environments, from tourist areas with hotels and leisure activities to quieter and more secluded areas.
Perhaps one of the most secluded and least developed beaches in the area. With plenty of parking, it offers a quiet and relaxing environment for visitors. Characterised by strong winds and waves, Risco beach is particularly popular with windsurfers. However, if you prefer to swim, we recommend you choose days with less wind to fully enjoy this beautiful beach.
This beach is a must for windsurfing enthusiasts who flock here every year to watch the Freestyle Grand Slam Windsurfing Championship, which has been held here since 1986. Checking the dates of the next championship can be a great way to plan your trip and enjoy the thrill of competition during your holiday.
Located between the mouth of the Butihondo ravine and the Esquinzo ravine, this beach is known by both names: Butihondo Beach or Esquinzo Beach. With a length of one and a half kilometres, this beach has a gentle breeze all year round and, in addition to sun loungers and parasols for hire, it is an ideal place to enjoy long walks by the sea and relax in a natural setting.
