We invite you to disconnect for a few days in a nearby paradise, where you will enjoy the warm rays of the Sun, with temperatures mild and constant during the whole year. This way, in addition to swim, you can discover some of the incredible Gran Canaria excursions.
At Lopesan Hotels we work tirelessly to satisfy the needs of our customers and let them enjoy the perfect holidays.
For this reason, together with the most excellent services and activities that you can enjoy in any of our hotel facilities, we offer you information about some of the Gran Canaria excursions that you should not miss.
First, we are going to talking about the best area to stay in the island. When it comes to taking a tour of the main places of interest, we will start from the south with our holiday package in Gran Canaria.
The south is the place where you will find the best beaches and the most exclusive accommodations — at places like Meloneras, where the most impressive hotels and resorts are located.
This way, you will have the chance to enjoy the wonderful surroundings of the famous Maspalomas Dunes. Our hotel is located in one of the best and most interesting places in Gran Canaria, so you can have a walk through the dunes from the hotel.
So, regardless of your accommodation is far or close to the dunes, this is one of the places that you have to visit during your Gran Canaria excursions.
The location of our hotels is perfect to enjoy this unique and fascinating environment, which will transport you to the desert within this natural reserve. At the dunes, tons of the finest sand are accumulated, creating the perfect contrast with the intense blue of the ocean.
Furthermore, if you want to live a fun experience, you have the chance to take a camel ride through the dunes of Maspalomas. In any case, don’t miss the chance to contemplate one of the most spectacular sunsets on the island from Maspalomas Lighthouse.
This lighthouse is located at the end of the Paseo de Meloneras (Meloneras promenade), and it has more than 130 years of history. Maspalomas Lighthouse is an emblematic place that will guide your walk to Maspalomas beach. This is another of the protected areas in Gran Canaria, and it is also known as Maspalomas pond, in which several species of fauna and flora coexist.
If you are in good shape, you can continue walking from there between the sand and the sea to another famous beach, Playa del Inglés. It is a journey of seven kilometres approximately — but you have to remember that you will have to walk seven kilometres more on your way back.
You can visit the Pasito Blanco Marina, located an hour away walking in the opposite direction from Meloneras, or five minutes by car. At this spot, you will find wonderful boats and luxury yachts.
You will also have the chance to access to its quiet beach, where a select public is usually resting on the sand. We said “select public” because many of them are owners of the boats that are moored there.
Continuing Gran Canaria excursions from the coastal area, you will find Puerto de Mogan located at the southwest of the island. This is a beautiful and lively fishing village which is popularly known as “the Venice of the Canaries“.
In this beautiful town stands out the special charm of its whitewashed houses, sprinkled by thousands of flowers between water channels. These water channels are framed by the bottom of the ravine adorned by typical fruit plantations and the blue sea surrounding it, together with its port and its beach.
This is one of the most beautiful excursions in Gran Canaria where you can stroll around the port, restore your batteries in one of its many bars, browse its shops, or simply relax contemplating the different boats and the work of the fishermen.
The island of Gran Canaria offers you many things apart from the sun, the sea and the beach tourism — so you should not miss other spectacular natural corners and peculiar traditional areas such as Teror, Telde, or Agüimes.
If you plan in advance your Gran Canaria excursions, you will have the chance to know many other places of this island in depth, which has a large number of unique natural areas and small rural areas full of magic.
“During your stay in the island, our hotel staff will give you more information about the most popular areas of the island and how to get there”.
On your way to Aldea de San Nicolás, located in the northwest of the territory, you can’t help but stop at one of the most beautiful viewpoints of Gran Canaria — Mirador del Balcón. Here you will have the unique chance to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Along the way, you must visit the peculiar Fuente de los Azulejos, an unusual rock formation on the island.
From this incredible viewpoint, you can contemplate how the geological formations and the erosion have generated capricious optical illusions that enter the sea presenting the clear shape of a dragon whose head sinks into the depths of the ocean.
Leaving from Meloneras or Maspalomas, both of them located at the south of the island and heading north towards the interior, you will have to travel around 35 kilometres along a steep mountain road that will lead you to one of the most representative natural monuments of our island — Roque Nublo. This Gran Canaria excursion is strongly recommended for hiking lovers.
Roque Nublo was considered a sacred place for the ancient inhabitants of the island. From the steep rocks of Roque Nublo, situated at an altitude of more than 1800 metres, you will be able to contemplate the highest point of the territory — Pico de las Nieves. Moreover, you can also see the Mount Teide, located in our neighbouring island of Tenerife — but this is just one of the many spectacular routes in Gran Canaria.
Leaving these impressive views behind, you will continue direction Tejeda, in which vicinity is located the largest archaeological site in our territory along with Mesa de Acusa.
You have to continue north direction to the beautiful town of Teror to see a wonderful example of traditional Canarian architecture, and visit Basilica of the Virgen del Pino, patron saint of the island.
If you keep on going north direction, you will arrive at Arucas — one of the essential Gran Canaria excursions where you will have the chance to contemplate its beautiful neo-Gothic church. Later on, you have to visit one of the most famous rum factories in the island, where you will get to know the whole process of making this drink original from the island, which began to be made in the 16th century.
This is just a little appetizer of the many different Gran Canaria excursions, where you will get to know the history of our island.
Discover other interesting Gran Canaria excursions during your next holidays in the island. Don’t hesitate to visit some of the plantations of our famous fruit — the banana. You will also have the chance to visit our vines and wineries, where you will enjoy our delicious Canary wine. But there are also natural pools, caves and so much more places to visit in the island!
Look for a blank space in your agenda and don’t wait any longer to give yourself a whim. Make your reservation now, because at Lopesan Hotel Group we offer you the most impressive facilities, the most elegant and comfortable rooms and the best service in order to help you enjoying a unique holiday experience.
