Do you like adventures?

How to Get to Charco de La Paloma in Gran Canaria

To reach Charco de La Paloma in Gran Canaria, you can access it by car via the GC-60 road. This route will take you directly and safely to the natural monument known by locals as Tejeda’s “little beach”, thanks to its beautiful waterfall that falls into the pool.

Unlike other more popular places, when you visit Charco de La Paloma in Gran Canaria, you will have no trouble parking your car near the road. It is easy to find: once you have left the picturesque village of Tejeda, you will know you have reached your destination when you see a kind of basket-shaped sculpture. Then, you should continue straight until you reach an open area, where your adventure in this wonderful place begins. Be careful not to turn off towards Cruz de Timagada, which is also another charming route you can enjoy during your trip to the Canary Island.

Charco de La Paloma, a waterfall and natural pool located in Tejeda, in the interior of Gran Canaria.

Monuments at Charco de La Paloma

Before starting your walk at Charco de La Paloma in Gran Canaria, you will be welcomed by the monument of Las Casas de las Huertas, which pays tribute to the traditional customs and ways of life of this area.

A few years ago, Tejeda Town Council erected another monument near the route to Charco de La Paloma in memory of the victims affected in 1946 by a strong storm that hit the island at the site of the Molino de las Huertas.

In general, the island of Gran Canaria enjoys good weather conditions throughout the year. Average temperatures range between 16°C and 27°C, although in summer they can sometimes rise to 30°C. So do not worry, it is very rare for temperatures to drop significantly or for storms of this kind to occur.

It is no coincidence that the island of Gran Canaria is internationally known as one of the dream destinations to enjoy on a trip. Its interesting traditions, exquisite gastronomy and extraordinary diversity of natural settings, such as Charco de La Paloma, make this place an adventure you will not want to miss.

Hiking at Charco de La Paloma in Gran Canaria

The island of Gran Canaria is also known for its wonderful natural routes for hiking or trekking, such as the Caldera de Bandama or the Barranco del Draguillo, both considered medium-high difficulty due to their long distances and sloping terrain.

However, Charco de La Paloma in Gran Canaria is a lower-difficulty trail, perfect for doing with the family and enjoying a comfortable walk of just 1 km. In addition, completing this route will take no more than an hour if you walk at a normal pace, but we suggest going slowly so you can disconnect and enjoy this natural space.

Remember to bring non-slip footwear, light clothing and cold water, and you will be ready to start your adventure at Charco de La Paloma in Gran Canaria.

If you are looking for a place to relax, Charco de La Paloma in Gran Canaria is a dream destination where you can connect with nature in its purest form.

Disconnect at Charco de La Paloma in Tejeda

Access is quite simple, as mentioned before; just pay attention and do not turn right towards Cruz de Timagada. Right opposite the road, you will find the track where you begin your route to Tejeda’s “little beach”.

The straight path will take you to an open area, and you should ignore the path to the right because, if you take it, you will end up at a local farm. What should you do? Continue downhill and cross towards the stream in the ravine.

After crossing, you will have to climb a few metres, passing some mounds of stones and earth. A good sign that you are on the right track is finding a wooden post.

Continue to the end of the dirt track and, in this part of the trail, we recommend being very careful, as you will descend again through the ravine bed. It is worth noting that, if you travel during the almond blossom season, between January and March, you will be able to appreciate one of the most beautiful natural spectacles on the Canary Island.

Once you finish climbing that gentle slope, you will start to hear the sound of the waterfall at Charco de La Paloma in Gran Canaria. There, you can enjoy the peace of the natural surroundings and its fresh waters, where you can swim without any problems.

To return, you only need to follow the same route, avoiding turn-offs. And, if you feel like trying other routes, do not limit yourself when it comes to discovering the wonders hidden in Gran Canaria. On the way back, you will also have a beautiful view of the extraordinary Roque Bentayga.

Without a doubt, Charco de La Paloma in Gran Canaria is a destination you should not miss if you want to disconnect and enjoy the peace of a beautiful natural setting.

If you are thinking of discovering the island’s interior and natural places such as Charco de La Paloma or Tejeda, staying in the south of Gran Canaria will allow you to combine nature excursions with beaches, leisure and gastronomy.
