Types of sport licenses to fish in Gran Canaria

Before giving you more information about where to fish in Gran Canaria, you should bear in mind that to carry out this activity you need to request or hold a specific type of license. Within the Canary Islands three types of licenses are granted:

  • First class: It is the type of license suitable for fishing from a surface trolling boat.
  • Second class: It is granted to those fishermen who want to carry out underwater fishing. It can only be requested by those users who present a good physical condition in their medical certificate.
  • Third Class: Unlike the first class, this type of fishing is carried out without trolling from the boat.

To apply for any of the three fishing licenses, you need to present the corresponding documentation and take it to the regional registry offices, but you can also deliver the requirements at the Canarian Office of Information and Citizen Services.
