What Are the Best Secret Beaches in Gran Canaria?

The secret beaches of Gran Canaria have the same brightness and splendour as the busiest ones, with the difference that they are located away from the most visited tourist areas and, in general, you have to reach them on foot to enjoy their charm.

If you love hiking or practising any exercise routine, as well as discovering these paradisiacal surroundings, on these secret beaches in Gran Canaria you can organise excursions with friends and family, so we invite you to immerse yourself with us in each of these incredible places.

Guigüi

If you decide to visit Guigüi, you will have the advantage of enjoying two wild beaches in Gran Canaria in the same place: Guigüi Chico and Guigüi Grande, which you can reach either on foot or by boat.

This place has a special protection status, which is why there are no nearby buildings. For the same reason, it has been recognised as a special nature reserve by the Government of Gran Canaria, where you can observe thermophilic plant species such as tabaibas and cardones, as well as several endangered birds.

Its calm waters with excellent temperatures allow the sea, the sky and the cliffs to be admired from this place, which offers the ideal privacy for visitors to fully relax in this very special setting.

If you want to go hiking and enjoy the beauty of the sea, you can reach this beach by starting from La Aldea de San Nicolás, along the path that runs parallel to the Vallermoso ravine. You will cross very unique trails with spectacular views of the ancient surfaces that shape these landscapes.

Guayedra

Located near the town of Agaete, below Tamadaba Natural Park, this beach contrasts wonderfully with the black colour of the volcanic stones that surround it.

Due to its climate, it can be visited all year round, although it is most advisable to do so in autumn or winter, when temperatures are usually more pleasant for the walk required to reach the beach.

This is one of the few secret beaches in Gran Canaria with palm trees and volcanic landscapes. There, you can enjoy beautiful protected animal and plant species; in addition, it also offers wonderful views of the neighbouring island of Tenerife.

Cala de Tiritaña

Cala de Tiritaña is known for being a beautiful “almost hidden” enclave, located near Taurito, in Mogán. You can access the beach by going down the path from the cliff. If you have visited Puerto de Mogán for its tranquillity, Cala de Tiritaña will undoubtedly be a peaceful place for those who want to enjoy the beach in Gran Canaria without the bustle of tourist or urban areas.

El Cabrón

This is one of the secret beaches in Gran Canaria that can be reached by car, as it is only about 5 minutes from the town of Arinaga. It is just 300 metres long and is located in the municipality of Agüimes.

Its name comes from the conqueror Pedro Hernández de Cabrón, and it is a protected area in Spain where you can enjoy, with family and friends, wonderful calm and warm waters while observing the diversity of marine and plant species through scuba diving.

On the other hand, this beach is also ideal for those who love water sports such as snorkelling. It is a place where public services such as sunbeds, parasols or showers are not available, so if you are going with your family and children, you should keep this in mind.
