How to get to Anfi del Mar: access, map and parking

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Anfi del Mar is one of the best-known beaches in the south of Gran Canaria and attracts visitors year-round. Because it sits within the Anfi resort complex rather than in a town centre, many people wonder how easy it is to reach and where to park once they arrive. It isn’t remote, but it isn’t on a main street either — so it’s worth locating the access point before setting off.

The beach lies between Arguineguín and Puerto Rico, in the municipality of Mogán, and is well connected by road. From Maspalomas, Meloneras or the airport, the journey is straightforward once you know the turn-off.

What Anfi del Mar is like

The appeal is simple. In a part of the island known for open Atlantic beaches, Anfi offers a sheltered bay with calm water and unusually pale sand. Breakwaters protect the cove, softening the swell and making swimming gentler than on more exposed stretches of coast.

The first impression is often unexpected. The light-coloured sand and compact shape of the bay create a different feel from other southern beaches. Palm trees and hillside buildings frame the shoreline, giving the area a bright, orderly atmosphere. It’s not wild or secluded; it’s a maintained beach with services close at hand and easy access.

Most people come for an uncomplicated plan: a relaxed swim, time in the sun and a slow morning by the water.

Where Anfi del Mar is located

Anfi del Mar sits on the coastal road that links Arguineguín and Puerto Rico. On the map of southern Gran Canaria, you’ll see a clearly marked turn-off from the GC-500 leading directly into the Anfi complex. As the entrance is part of a private development, it helps to check the exact access point before you travel.

Getting there by car

Driving is the easiest option, especially if you’re staying in the south of the island. The main access is via the GC-500, with a signposted exit towards Anfi.

From Maspalomas or Playa del Inglés, take the GC-1 towards Puerto Rico, then join the GC-500 at the appropriate junction. The drive from Maspalomas takes around 15–20 minutes. From Gran Canaria Airport, allow roughly 35–40 minutes, depending on traffic.

The final stretch runs through the resort complex itself, where internal signs guide you towards the entrance and beach parking.

Taxis follow the same route and take a similar amount of time. Fares vary according to distance and time of day.

If travelling by bus, you’ll need an interurban service connecting Maspalomas with Puerto Rico or Arguineguín. From there, the last section is on foot or by a short taxi ride, so checking return times in advance is advisable.

Parking at Anfi del Mar

There is a paid car park within the Anfi complex, clearly signposted after the GC-500 turn-off. It’s the most convenient option and only a short walk from the beach.

In high season and at weekends, it can fill up quickly, particularly from late morning onwards. If that happens, some visitors leave their car in nearby areas around Arguineguín or Puerto Rico and complete the final stretch on foot or by taxi.

Spaces tend to free up earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon.

Practical tips before you go

  • Arrive early in peak season — parking and beach space become busier from midday.
  • Double-check the GC-500 turn-off before leaving — it saves unnecessary loops.
  • Bear in mind the beach sits within a private residential complex — the beach is public, but access runs through managed grounds.
  • If using public transport, review return times carefully.
  • Have a back-up parking plan during busy periods.

What to do in and around Anfi del Mar

Beyond swimming and relaxing on the sand, the area offers seasonal water sports and nearby boat excursions. A short promenade links different parts of the complex and provides open views along the south-west coast.

Puerto Rico and Arguineguín are only minutes away, expanding the choice of restaurants and short coastal outings. Anfi del Mar works well as part of a wider day out in southern Gran Canaria — beach in the morning, lunch nearby and perhaps another stop along the coast.
