The Temisas Astronomical Observatory

Located on the northern border of the Biosphere Reserve and the Starlight Tourist Zone, it offers a clear, dark sky, ideal for observing the Milky Way and constellations such as Sagittarius and Scorpius. With around 220 nights a year favourable for astronomical observation, the moonless summer nights are perfect for enjoying the firmament from this impressive vantage point.
Degollada de las Yeguas viewpoint
Located on the western edge of the Amurga massif, this viewpoint offers spectacular views of the Fataga ravine. It is known for its rich geology, with phonolite lava flows formed millions of years ago, and its semi-desert flora, which includes endemic species such as the Dracaena tamaranae. From this viewpoint you can also see the Arteara Necropolis. It is part of the World Biosphere Reserve of Gran Canaria, which adds value to the observation experience.
Viewpoint of Pinos de Gáldar
The Mirador de Pinos de Gáldar, also known as La Redonda, is located at the convergence of the municipalities of Moya, Santa María de Guía and Gáldar. It offers a wide panoramic view of the north and west of Gran Canaria, dominated by the emblematic Canary Island pine trees. From here you can see the Caldera de los Pinos de Gáldar, a 3,000-year-old volcano, and the spectacular sunset over the Pinar de Tamadaba. The whole area is included in the Gran Canaria World Biosphere Reserve.
Pico de los Pozos de la Nieve viewpoint
The Mirador del Pico de los Pozos de la Nieve is the highest viewpoint in Gran Canaria, at 1,950 metres above sea level. It offers breathtaking views, including Mount Teide floating above a sea of clouds. From here you can see much of the Biosphere Reserve, with its deep ravines and volcanic basins. The viewpoint is particularly popular for watching the sunset, which offers a unique visual spectacle.
Degollada de las Palomas viewpoint
The viewpoint of Degollada de las Palomas offers a unique view of the Caldera de Tejeda, a geological depression formed by erosion over thousands of years. From here you can see landmarks such as Roque Nublo and Roque Bentayga, sacred places for the ancient Canary Islanders. From the viewpoint you can also see the traditional architecture of the village of Tejeda, with its gabled roofs and white walls, and it is an excellent place to observe birds of prey in their natural habitat.
La Cruz del Siglo astronomical observatory
The La Cruz del Siglo astronomical observatory, located in the municipality of La Aldea de San Nicolás, combines a strong sense of history with excellent conditions for astronomical observation. This viewpoint, chosen by previous generations, offers a clear sky protected by large cliffs that create an ideal microclimate for enjoying the night sky. From here, the urban centre of La Aldea seems to merge with the celestial vault, offering a unique setting for observing the stars and the moon in its different phases throughout the lunar cycle.
El Balcón astronomical viewpoint
The Mirador Astronómico El Balcón, also in La Aldea de San Nicolás, is an iconic place for stargazing in Gran Canaria. Perched on a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this viewpoint offers an overwhelming darkness that makes it an ideal place to admire the boreal constellations.
