Lopesan Hotel Group and Stoneweg Hospitality Join Forces to Acquire Hotel Miguel Ángel in Madrid
This is the largest hotel operation closed in Spain during the year 2024. The hotel, a paradigm of hotel luxury in the heart of Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid, is revitalized with this investment to shine again as an icon of exclusivity and elegance.
Madrid, 13th November 2024 – Lopesan Hotel Group, the leading hotel company in the Canary Islands, in partnership with investment firm Stoneweg Hospitality, has acquired the Hotel Miguel Ángel. The hotel is a renowned symbol of hotel luxury located on Madrid's prime Paseo de la Castellana.
This acquisition signifies Lopesan Hotel Group entry into Madrid, with plans to introduce the personalised experiences and services that characterise the Lopesan Group offerings. The company also intends to undertake a revitalisation of the hotel’s architectural and decorative concept. The iconic property joins a portfolio comprising 22 owned and managed hotels across five countries.
The investment in Hotel Miguel Ángel represents Lopesan Hotel Group second venture into the urban tourism sector, following the acquisition of the AC Hotel Iberia in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria earlier this year. Lopesan Hotel Management, the Group management division, will incorporate this emblematic Madrid hotel into its brand portfolio and enhance its value proposition through a comprehensive refurbishment, expected to last for one year.
The transformation of Hotel Miguel Ángel, which boasts 241 rooms, will aim to transport guests to a world of luxury and cutting-edge design, establishing it as a new highlight of the city of Madrid, with a particular emphasis on its gastronomic offerings and exclusive services.
Stoneweg Hospitality, with a well-established presence in the European hotel sector, is participating in this partnership as a key operating partner. The acquisition of Hotel Miguel Ángel reinforces the company's strategy of adding high-value properties located in prime areas of major tourist destinations.
The alliance with Lopesan Hotel Group will facilitate the modernisation of this historic building and the creation of a new hotel concept that integrates leisure and business, delivering superior long-term returns through personalised experiences, technology and sustainability.
