Las Playitas in Fuerteventura: A Seaside Village
The natural charm of Las Playitas in Fuerteventura lies in its seafaring origins, which are reflected in its white houses with blue stripes, so characteristic of Mediterranean coastal villages.
The influence of fishing is so strong that every year they celebrate their patron saint festivities on 29 June in honour of Saint Peter the Fisherman. In addition, his sculpture adorns the interior of the church of Las Playitas in Fuerteventura.
You will be able to enjoy two very different sides of the municipality. One is made up of the picturesque fishing quarter, while the other is considered the most important tourist attraction in the area: Las Playitas Beach.

What to Do in Las Playitas
This unique destination is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and escape the hustle, bustle and stress of everyday life. In Las Playitas in Fuerteventura, you will find countless activities to enjoy as a couple, with friends or with family.
We have selected some of the most emblematic places within this village in the municipality of Fuerteventura.
Fishing Quarter
This part of Las Playitas is bordered by a coastline with two types of sand: one with a coarse texture and another of volcanic origin.
As its name suggests, the fishing quarter focuses its economy mainly on fishing with cast nets. In the area, there are 4 recognised communities: El Papayal, La Penca, Los Castros and Puertas Viejas.
Water Sports and Volcanic Beach
As mentioned before, Las Playitas Beach is the most popular tourist attraction in the village. It is 700 metres long and approximately 30 metres wide, where you can relax on the sand, sunbathe or swim and enjoy the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
The most interesting feature of this beach is, as we explained earlier, the variety of sands that coexist there. One is coarser, while the other is volcanic in nature. This gives the beach a unique and special personality that you can only experience when you bury your feet in it.
Another of its most representative elements is its waters, which are calm and shallow. For this reason, a wide range of water sports are practised there, such as el and el.
Cuchillo de Vigán Natural Monument
Visiting the Cuchillo de Vigán Natural Monument is something we always recommend if you are planning a trip to Las Playitas in Fuerteventura.
This area covers 6,090 hectares, where living and fossil flora and fauna coexist, such as the large conch and the trumpeter finch. For this reason, Cuchillo de Vigán has become a protected area in the Canary Islands, with the aim of preserving its biodiversity.
Entallada Lighthouse
Fuerteventura hides many unique places waiting to be discovered, and the Entallada Lighthouse is one of the must-sees on your list of places to visit.
To reach this unique attraction, you must pass through the Cuchillos de Vigán Natural Monument; it will only take you approximately five to ten minutes by car.
Entallada Lighthouse, near Las Playitas, was designed by the architect Carlos Alcón in the 1950s. It consists of three sections that were formerly the homes of the lighthouse keepers.
The views from the Entallada Lighthouse are incomparable, and you will enjoy the beautiful monument on one side and the vast sea of the island on the other.
